* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...

  IN NORTHEASTERN NEW JERSEY
  NORTH CENTRAL UNION
  EASTERN PASSAIC
  NORTHWESTERN BERGEN
  ESSEX

  IN SOUTHEASTERN NEW YORK STATE
  WEST CENTRAL ROCKLAND

* UNTIL 300 PM EST.

* AT 1153 AM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER THE WARNED AREA. THIS SAME
AREA HAS ALREADY SEEN ABOUT 2 INCHES THIS MORNING. ANOTHER 1 TO 2
INCHES ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. SEVERAL STREAMS
IN THE WARNED AREA ARE ALREADY APPROACHING BANKFUL.

* SOME FLOOD PRONE LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING AREA INCLUDE...

THIRD RIVER...PECKMAN RIVER...HOHOKUS BROOK...MAHWAH RIVER...
RAHWAY RIVER AND ELIZABETH RIVER.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES.

SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS WILL RAPIDLY FLOOD...POSSIBLY WASHING OUT
ROADS AND FLOODING NEARBY LOW AREAS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED. MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.
