THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING UNTIL
436 PM EDT MONDAY FOR

NEW YORK...
         NASSAU              SUFFOLK

AT 1:36 PM EDT MONDAY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR
ESTIMATES THAT UP TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN THE PAST 3
HOURS.  THIS WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF DITCHES AND
CREEKS...AS WELL AS SMALL RIVERS AND STREAMS.

AT 1:20 PM EDT THE NASSAU COUNTY POLICE REPORTED THAT MANY ROADS AND
HIGH WATER RELATED PROBLEMS WERE OCCURRING IN LEVITTOWN. THE FLASH
FLOODING IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 3 HOURS.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT CROSS
BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY
TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT.  IMMEDIATELY
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE RISING WATER.

RADAR SHOWED THAT THE SHOWER WERE CONTINUING ACROSS LONG ISLAND AND
HIGH WATER PROBLEMS WILL LIKELY SPREAD INTO SUFFOLK COUNTY.
