THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MORRISTOWN HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  HAMILTON COUNTY IN EASTERN TENNESSEE

* UNTIL 100 AM EDT

* AT 1117 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
  THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN NEAR HARRISON...OR 12 MILES
  NORTHEAST OF CHATTANOOGA.  THE THUNDERSTORM PRODUCING THE FLASH
  FLOOD WAS MOVING SOUTHWEST AT 20 MPH.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR HAS ESTIMATED THAT BETWEEN 2 
AND 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN OVER THE PAST HOUR IN CENTRAL 
HAMILTON COUNTY. AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN ARE EXPECTED 
OVER THE  NEXT 1 TO 2 HOURS.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY COUNTRY
ROADS...FARMLANDS...AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS THAT ARE SUBJECT TO
FLASH FLOODING. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS
IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT
QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
