NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MORRISTOWN TN
520 PM EDT THU JUL 6 2000

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MORRISTOWN HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHEAST GREENE COUNTY IN EASTERN TENNESSEE

* UNTIL 715 PM EDT

* AT 517 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A 
  THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN 12 MILES SOUTH OF GREENEVILLE.   
  THE THUNDERSTORM PRODUCING THE FLASH FLOOD WAS MOVING SOUTH AROUND 
  20 MPH.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR HAS ESTIMATED THAT THREE TO 
FOUR INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN ACROSS SOUTHEAST GREENE COUNTY OVER 
THE PAST TWO TO THREE HOURS. AN ADDITIONAL ONE TO TWO INCHES OF RAIN 
IS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT HOURS.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF CREEKS 
AND STREAMS...ROADS AND ROADSIDE CULVERTS. THE HEAVY RAINS COULD ALSO
TRIGGER ROCK AND MUDSLIDES IN STEEP TERRAIN. IF FLASH FLOODING IS 
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY AND MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD 
WATERS.
