* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  CENTRAL LEA COUNTY IN NEW MEXICO

* UNTIL 730 PM MDT

* AT 427 PM MDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR DETECTED  
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER CENTRAL LEA COUNTY...
  WITH VERY LITTLE MOVEMENT.

* SOME LOCATIONS AFFECTED BY THIS FLASH FLOOD WARNING INCLUDE...   
  BUCKEYE...US 62/180 WEST OF HOBBS...STATE HIGHWAY 529...AND
  STATE HIGHWAY 238 SOUTH OF BUCKEYE.

NEARLY STATIONARY STORMS HAVE BEEN PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL OVER
CENTRAL LEA COUNTY FOR OVER AN HOUR. THE LATEST RADAR-DERIVED
RADAR ESTIMATES INDICATE THAT WIDESPREAD AREAS OF 2-3 INCH RAINS
HAVE FALLEN IN AN AREA TO THE SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST OF BUCKEYE. 
SOME AREAS MAY HAVE RECEIVED OVER 4 INCHES OF RAIN IN A LITTLE 
OVER ONE HOUR.

ALTHOUGH THE TERRAIN IN CENTRAL LEA COUNTY IS FAIRLY FLAT...
EXCESSIVE RUNOFF WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF AREA ROADWAYS...
LOW WATER CROSSINGS...AND NORMALLY DRY ARROYOS. DO NOT DRIVE 
THROUGH FLOODED AREAS. SHALLOW...SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER
CAN EASILY WASH A CAR FROM A ROADWAY. 

THIS FLASH FLOOD WARNING REPLACES THE URBAN AND SMALL STREAM
FLOOD ADVISORY THAT WAS ISSUED EARLIER.
