THE MIDLAND-ODESSA NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  NORTHWESTERN EDDY COUNTY IN NEW MEXICO

* UNTIL 930 PM MDT

* AT 630 PM MDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR DETECTED A
  THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN 14 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ARTESIA...
  MOVING SOUTH AT 15 MPH.

THREE FEET OF WATER WAS REPORTED OVER COUNTY ROAD 95 WHERE IT CROSSES
COTTONWOOD CREEK...ABOUT 12 MILES NORTHWEST OF ARTESIA.  THE GROUND 
IN THIS AREA IS ALREADY SATURATED FROM PREVIOUS RAINS...AND ANY 
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL CREATE FLASH FLOODING.  DOWNSTREAM FLOODING
OF COTTONWOOD CREEK ALONG COUNTY ROAD 121 TO THE INTERSECTION OF 
U.S. HIGHWAY 285 IS LIKELY.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE 
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED 
QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
