THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SWAIN COUNTY IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA

* UNTIL 500 AM EDT

* EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL REPORT THAT BOTH SOCO CREEK AND RAVEN
  CREEK WERE RISING RAPIDLY EARLY TUESDAY MORNING...FORCING THE EVACUATION
  OF CAMPGROUNDS IN THE VICINITY OF THESE TWO CREEKS. WEATHER RADAR SHOWED 
  MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN IN NORTHERN GEORGIA AND EASTERN TENNESSEE MOVING 
  TOWARD THE AREA...RAIN THAT IS LIKELY TO SEND BOTH SOCO CREEK AND 
  RAVEN CREEK OUT OF THEIR BANKS. 

  OTHER SMALLER STREAMS AND CREEKS WILL LIKELY FLOOD AS WELL IN THE NEXT 
  FEW HOURS...INCLUDING TRIBUTARIES OF THE OCONOLUFTEE RIVER NEAR BIRDTOWN 
  DOWNSTREAM TO THE TUCKASEEGEE RIVER AT BRYSON CITY.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF CREEKS
AND STREAMS...ROADS AND ROADSIDE CULVERTS. THE HEAVY RAINS COULD ALSO
TRIGGER ROCK AND MUDSLIDES IN STEEP TERRAIN.
