THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND RAPIDS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  JACKSON COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL MICHIGAN

* UNTIL 530 AM EDT

* AT 235 AM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN FROM 12 MILES NORTHWEST
  OF JACKSON TO 35 MILES SOUTHWEST OF VANDERCOOK LAKE...MOVING       
  NORTHEAST AT 35 MPH. THIS LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL REACH JACKSON 
  AROUND 245 AM EDT.

DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES INDICATED 1.0 TO 1.5 INCHES OF RAIN FELL 
FROM A THUNDERSTORM WHICH MOVED THROUGH JACKSON COUNTY BETWEEN 130 
AND 230 AM. ANOTHER 1.0 TO 1.5 INCHES OF RAIN IS POSSIBLE ACROSS 
JACKSON COUNTY IN THE NEXT TWO HOURS. 

THE AREA MOST AT RISK FOR FLASH FLOODING WILL BE URBAN AREAS IN AND 
AROUND THE CITY OF JACKSON...WHERE THE HEAVIEST RAIN FELL BETWEEN 
130 AND 230 AM. IF YOU LIVE IN A FLOOD PRONE AREA OR NEAR STREAMS OR 
CREEKS IN CENTRAL JACKSON COUNTY...BE PREPARED TO ACT QUICKLY. 

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE 
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT
QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY
IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING. RESIDENTS 
LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO 
PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS SWIFTLY FLOWING 
WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY AUTOMOBILE. IF YOUR 
VEHICLE STALLS, ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND.
