THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAND FORKS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  GRAND FORKS COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN NORTH DAKOTA
  NELSON COUNTY IN NORTHEASTERN NORTH DAKOTA

* UNTIL 540 PM CDT

* AT 1145 AM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS PORTIONS OF
  NELSON AND GRAND FORKS COUNTIES. THE THUNDERSTORMS WERE GENERALLY
  TRAINING FROM LOGAN CENTER TO NIAGARA TO JOHNSTOWN OR FROM 35 MILES
  WEST OF GRAND FORKS TO 25 MILES NORTH OF GRAND FORKS. MOVEMENT
  OF THE THUNDERSTORMS WAS TO NORTHEAST AT 25 MPH.

* DUE TO RECENT HEAVY RAINFALL EVENTS ACROSS THE AREA...THE GROUND
  REMAINS SATURATED AND ANY ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL RESULT IN RAPID
  RUNOFF AND POSSIBLE OVERLAND FLOODING. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WITH THE
  THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE IN THE ONE TO TWO INCH RANGE IN JUST A COUPLE
  OF HOURS. RAPID RISES IN RIVER LEVELS MAY OCCUR ALONG THE NORTH AND
  SOUTH BRANCHES OF THE TURTLE RIVER AND ALONG THE LITTLE GOOSE
  RIVER. PERSONS LIVING NEAR THESE RIVERS SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR
  RIVER LEVELS AND BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND QUICKLY.

MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT DRIVE YOUR
VEHICLE INTO WATER OF UNKNOWN DEPTH.  ONE OR TWO FEET OF WATER WILL
FLOAT MOST CARS DOWNSTREAM.
