THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DES MOINES HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  NORTHERN POLK COUNTY IN CENTRAL IOWA

* UNTIL 1200 AM

* AT 913 PM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH FLASH FLOOD PRODUCING RAINS OVER POLK CITY...OR
  ABOUT 15 MILES NORTHWEST OF DES MOINES.  THE AREA OF HEAVY RAIN WAS
  NEARLY STATIONARY.

* THUNDERSTORMS WITH EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE ACROSS...
  NORTHERN POLK COUNTY.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE CONTINUOUSLY REDEVELOPING OVER THE WARNING
AREA...RESULTING IN EXCESSIVE RAINFALL. RAINFALL RATES WILL AVERAGE
2 INCHES PER HOUR. THIS WILL PRODUCE FLASH FLOODING ALONG BIG CREEK
AND THE TRIBUTARIES AND NORTHERN REACHES OF FOURMILE CREEK.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. DO NOT DRIVE INTO WATER OF
UNKNOWN DEPTH...THE ROAD MAYBE WASHED OUT.  A TORNADO WATCH CONTINUES
UNTIL 100 AM FOR POLK COUNTY.
