FLASH FLOOD WARNING
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE STATE COLLEGE PA
1008 PM EDT THU SEP 14 2000

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE PA HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  YORK COUNTY.

* UNTIL 115 AM EDT.

* AT 1006 PM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN FALLING
  OVER MUCH OF YORK COUNTY.

THE HEAVY RAINFALL WAS CAUSING FLASH FLOODING IN THE CITY OF YORK. 
LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED SEVERAL MOTORISTS STRANDED 
IN VEHICLES AND AT LEAST TWO ROADWAYS CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATFER SHOULD BE ABANDONED. MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.
