THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BINGHAMTON HAS EXTENDED THE
* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
SULLIVAN COUNTY IN CENTRAL NEW YORK.
* UNTIL 1000 PM EDT.
* AT 530 PM EDT...EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED THAT WIDESPREAD
FLOODING PROBLEMS CONTINUED IN THE WESTERN HALF OF THE COUNTY. A
STATE OF EMERGENCY REMAINS IN EFFECT AND NON-EMERGENCY TRAVEL
SHOULD BE AVOIDED. NUMEROUS ROADS AND BRIDGES REMAINED WASHED OUT
OR UNDERWATER...AND MANY SMALL STREAMS ARE OUT OF THEIR BANKS.
A FEW SHOWERS WILL STILL AFFECT THE AREA THIS EVENING...BUT
ADDITIONAL SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL IS NOT EXPECTED TO REDEVELOP. FLOOD
WATERS SLOWLY RECEDE DURING THE NIGHT.
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT. DO NOT GO AROUND POLICE BARRICADES...AND NEVER DRIVE YOUR
VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT
IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED.
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.
