THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GAYLORD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  BENZIE COUNTY IN NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN
  GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY IN NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN
  LEELANAU COUNTY IN NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN

* UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT

* AT 850 PM EDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED AN AREA OF
  VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER HONOR...OR ABOUT 20 MILES SOUTHWEST OF
  TRAVERSE CITY...MOVING EAST AT 10 MPH.  ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINS ARE
  EXPECTED OVER LEELANAU AND GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTIES.

* DOPPLER RADAR RAINFALL ESTIMATES AS HIGH AS 5.5 INCHES WERE
  RECORDED ACROSS PORTIONS OF LEELANAU COUNTY. IN ADDITION SPOTTER
  REPORTS FROM LEELANAU COUNTY HAVE RECORDED 6.22 INCHES THROUGH 845
  PM.

* ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINS FROM STORMS COMING OFF LAKE MICHIGAN WILL
  PRODUCE UP TO ONE INCH PER HOUR RAINFALLS THROUGH AT LEAST 1030 PM.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM ROADWAYS HAS CAUSED PORTIONS OF ROADWAYS TO BECOME
WASHED OUT ACROSS LEELANAU AND GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTIES. THIS IS EXPECTED
TO CONTINUE AND EXPAND INTO BENZIE COUNTY.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS
OF FLOODED ROADWAYS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.

CAMPERS SHOULD AVOID CAMPING AXLONG STREAMS OR CREEKS DURING THREATENING
RAINS.
