THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TULSA HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR
  SOUTHERN OSAGE COUNTY IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA
  PAWNEE COUNTY IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA
  NORTHERN TULSA COUNTY IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA
  SOUTHERN WASHINGTON COUNTY IN NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA

* UNTIL 1215 PM CDT

* AT 915 AM CDT RADAR INDICATED AN AREA OF VERY HEAVY RAIN ACROSS 
MUCH OF NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH. THE LATEST 
RAIN GAGE REPORTS INDICATE UP TO 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN 
ACROSS PAWNEE...SOUTHERN OSAGE...SOUTHERN WASHINGTON AND NORTHERN 
TULSA COUNTIES SINCE 4 AM. RADAR-ESTIMATED RAINFALL RATES CONTINUE 
TO SHOW 1 TO 1.5 INCH PER HOUR RAINFALL RATES WHICH SHOULD CONTINUE 
THROUGH MUCH OF THE MORNING.

ACROSS PAWNEE AND OSAGE COUNTIES...RAINFALL MAY BEGIN TO TAPER OFF 
BEFORE THE WARNING EXPIRES. HOWEVER...RUNOFF FROM THE EXTREMELY 
HEAVY RAINFALL WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE MORNING. THIS RUNOFF WILL 
CONTINUE TO CAUSE SMALL STREAMS AND RIVERS TO RISE CAUSING FLOODING 
OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS AND LOW LYING AND FLOOD-PRONE AREAS.

PERSONS IN AND ALONG FLOOD-PRONE AREAS OF BIRD CREEK SHOULD PAY 
CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS SITUATION!  THE BIRD CREEK WILL RISE RAPIDLY 
THIS MORNING AND FLOOD WARNINGS MAY BE REQUIRED LATER TODAY.

SKEDEE...RAMONA...PRUE...OWASSO...OSAGE...OAK GROVE...MULE 
BARN...MARAMEC...HOMINY...HALLETT...COLLINSVILLE...CLEVELAND... 
BLACKBURN...AVANT AND NORTHERN PARTS OF TULSA AS WELL AS ADJACENT 
COMMUNITIES MAY BE AFFECTED BY FLASH FLOODING.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND
STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY ROADS AND
FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING
AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER MAY BE TOO DEEP TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY.
VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO
HIGHER GROUND.
