NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOUNT HOLLY NJ
1115 PM EDT THU AUG 26 1999

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY NJ HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  NORTHERN NEW CASTLE COUNTY IN DELAWARE.

* UNTIL 315 AM EDT.

* AT 1100 PM...THE CHRISTINA RIVER WAS APPROACHING ITS FLOOD
STAGE OF 9 FEET AT COOCHES BRIDGE.  THE RIVER SHOULD BEGIN TO
OVERFLOW ITS BANKS AROUND 1130 PM...RESULTING IN SOME MINOR
FLOODING ALONG THE RIVER.

* RAINFALL AMOUNTS WERE UP TO AN INCH OR TWO THIS EVENING IN MUCH
OF THE COUNTY.  THE HEAVIEST OF THE RAIN SHOULD MOVE TO THE
NORTHEAST SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT.  THIS WILL LIKELY ALLOW THE
CHRISTINA RIVER TO RETURN TO ITS BANKS BY DAYBREAK.

  BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
  DANGERS OF FLASH FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.
  DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS
  RISING.
