1215 PM CDT THU JUN 24 1999

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WICHITA HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SUMNER COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS

* UNTIL 215 PM CDT

* AT 1213 PM CDT WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED WIDESPREAD SHOWERS  
  AND THUNDERSTORMS...SOME WITH TORRENTIAL RAINFALL...OVER SUMNER    
  COUNTY. THE INDIVIDUAL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING       
  SOUTHEAST AT 15 MPH. DOPPLER RADAR WAS ESTIMATING UP TO 1.5 INCHES 
  OF RAINFALL IN JUST AN HOUR OVER PARTS OF EASTERN AND SOUTHWEST    
  SUMNER COUNTY. RAINFALL RATES OVER AN INCH PER HOUR WILL CONTINUE  
  OVER SUMNER COUNTY THROUGH AT LEAST 1 PM...CREATING THE POTENTIAL  
  FOR FLASH FLOODING. ADDITIONAL RUNOFF OVER ROADWAYS AND LOW LYING  
  AREAS MAY CONTINUE THROUGH 2 PM.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
