THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR SMALL RIVERS AND STREAMS FOR...
  HAMPDEN COUNTY IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS
    INCLUDING WESTFIELD...CHICOPEE...SPRINGFIELD
  HAMPSHIRE COUNTY IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS
    INCLUDING AMHERST...NORTHAMPTON

* UNTIL 730 AM EDT.

* AT 731 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
  VERY HEAVY RAIN AFFECTING MUCH OF HAMPDEN AND HAMPSHIRE COUNTIES.
  ANOTHER 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN MAY FALL DURING THE NEXT FEW HOURS 
  PRODUCING FLOODING OF SMALL RIVERS AND STREAMS AS WELL AS WIDESPREAD
  FLOODING IN POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.

REPORTS OF OVER 2 INCHES AN HOUR AND STORM TOTALS OF OVER 5 INCHES
HAVE BEEN RECEIVED.  NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SKYWARN SPOTTERS HAVE 
REPORTED THAT SMALL STREAMS WERE RISING RAPIDLY AS WELL AS p
DEVELOPING STREET AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE 
DANGERS OF FLOODS. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOODED ROADWAY. THE ROAD 
COULD BE DAMAGED OR WASHED OUT.
