THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SHREVEPORT HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  745 PM CST
FOR THE FOLLOWING AREA...
 
IN NORTHEAST TEXAS
 
   ...BOWIE COUNTY
 
AT 348 PM CST DOPPLER RADAR IN SHREVEPORT SHOWED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS...PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL...OVER BOWIE COUNTY
IN NORTHEAST TEXAS MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST AT NEAR 40 MPH. THE
RAINS TO NEAR 1 INCH PER HOUR WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING IN
A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THIS AREA HAD ALSO RECEIVED EARLIER
RAINS DURING THE DAY CAUSING THE GROUND TO BECOME NEAR
SATURATED IN SOME LOCATIONS. THE RESULTANT RUNOFF WILL FILL
DRAINAGE SYSTEMS AND PRODUCE HIGH WATER OVER ROADS AND LOW
AREAS ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS.
 
MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERhS THE ROADWAY.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED
IMMEDIATELY.
