000 TTAA00 KMLB 231844 FFWMLB FLC009-232240- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MELBOURNE FL 144 PM EST FRI JAN 23 1998 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MELBOURNE FL HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 540 PM EST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA ...SOUTHERN BREVARD COUNTY ...FLOODING REPORTED IN SOUTHERN BREVARD COUNTY... AT 135 PM...STREET CLOSURES AND WATER INTO SOME RESIDENCES WERE REPORTED NEAR MALABAR ROAD AND HIGHWAY ONE. DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATES SHOWED THAT 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN OCCURRED BETWEEN 11 AM AND 1 PM IN THIS AREA. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF 1 TO 2 INCHES WILL MOVE ACROSS SOUTHERN BREVARD COUNTY BETWEEN 2 AND 3 PM. THEREFORE THE URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO A FLOOD WARNING. IF DRIVING THROUGH SOUTHERN BREVARD COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...BE ALERT FOR SUBSTANTIAL STANDING WATER ON ROADWAYS. SEVERAL VEHICLES HAVE ALREADY STALLED OUT WHILE TRYING DRIVE THROUGH STANDING WATER AROUND MALABAR ROAD. THOSE WHO LIVE IN FLOOD PRONE LOCATIONS IN SOUTHERN BREVARD COUNTY...
