THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  MARION COUNTY ILLINOIS IN SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS

* UNTIL 920 PM CDT

* AT 615 PM...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS DETECTING A
  CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS FROM SALEM EAST THROUGH THE EASTERN
  HALF OF MARION COUNTY.   THE STORMS HAVE SHOWN LITTLE MOVEMENT
  DURING THE LAST HOUR WITH CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OVER THE SAME
  AREA.

* RADAR ESTIMATED 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN SINCE 5 PM JUST
  EAST AND NORTHEAST OF SALEM.  ANOTHER 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN IS
  POSSIBLE.  MANY STATE AND LOCAL ROADS INCLUDING HIGHWAY 37 ARE
  COVERED WITH WATER AND HAZARDOUS.

  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER ATTEMPT TO
  CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW-WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE
  ROAD. DO NjOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES. IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS
  ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND. RAPIDLY RISING
  WATER MAY SWEEP THE VEHICLE AND ITS OCCUPANTS AWAY.
