FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1145 PM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTHWEST GEORGIA
 
   ...BARTOW COUNTY...FLOYD COUNTY...POLK COUNTY
 
PERSITENT RAINFALL OVER THE ROME...CEDARTOWN AND CARTERSVILLE
AREAS HAVE RESULTED IN SOME SMALL STREAMS REACHING BANKFULL
THIS EVENING. WITH ADDITIONAL RAINFALL ANTICIPATED...
SOME OF THE SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS WILL LIKELY OVERFLOW
CAUSING FLOODING OF SOME ROADS AND LOW LYING FLOODPRONE
AREAS.
 
HIGH WATER IN CEDARTOWN HAS CAUSED THE CLOSURE
OF AT LEAST ONE ROAD. WATER WAS REPORTED TO BE THREATENING
AT LEAST ONE MOBILE HOME PARK AND SOME BUSINESSES NEAR THE
CREEK. SOME EVACUATIONS MAY BE REQUIRED. AT 630 PM EST BIG
CEDAR CREEK IN CEDARTOWN WAS AT 13.5 FEET AND SLOWLY RISING.
FLOOD STAGE IS 15 FEET AND A LEVEL OF ABOUT 15 FEET IS
EXPECTED BY 11 PM THIS EVENING.
 
THE EUHARLEE IN ROCKMART WAS REPORTED OUT OF ITS BANKS.
FLOOD STAGE THERE IS 7 FEET. THE EUHARLEE IS EXPECTED TO
RISE SLOWLY TO AROUND 8 FEET BY 11 PM. FLOODING ALONG THE EUHARLEE
INTO BARTOW COUNTY IS ALSO EXPECTED.
 
IF RAINFALL BECOMES HEAVIER LATER THIS EVENING...THESE FORECASTS
WILL BE REVISED HIGHER.
 
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  WATER DEPTHS OF ONLY ONE TO TWO FEET WILL CAUSE MOST
AUTOMOBILES TO BECOME STRANDED OR FLOAT AWAY. IF THE WATER IS MOVING
...THE ROAD BED MAY BE ERODED. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER
SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY.
