000 TTAA00 KSAT 212238 FFWSAT TXC091-220145- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 439 PM CST SAT FEB 21 1998 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 745 PM CST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTH CENTRAL TEXAS ...COMAL COUNTY AT 435 PM...RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODING FROM SISTERDALE SOUTH THROUGH SAN ANTONIO TO JOURDANTON. BEORNE REPORTED NEARLY 2 INCHES OF RAIN IN ONE HOUR WITH THESE STORMS. RADAR INDICATED 2 INCH PER HOUR RAINFALL WITH STRONGEST STORMS. THIS RAINFALL WILL MOVE THROUGH COMAL COUNTY BETWEEN 5 AND 630 PM. MOVEMENT WAS EAST AT 20 MPH. FLOOD PRONE URBAN AREAS FILL WITH WATER QUICKLY. CLOGGED STORM DRAINS MAY CAUSE OTHER AREAS TO FLOOD. DO NOT DRIVE THROUGH FLOOD WATERS AND STAY AWAY FROM STORM DRAINS. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE RELATIVE TO STREAMS...RIVERS...OR CREEKS WHICH CAN BECOME KILLERS IN HEAVY RAINS. CAMPERS AND OTHER PEOPLE IN RECREATION AREAS ALONG CREEKS...STREAMS...AND RIVERS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD MOVE TO HIGH GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
