AT 515 PM...WEATHER RADAR CONTINUED TO SHOW AREAS OF VERY HEAVY RAINFALL
FROM RHODE ISLAND SOUTHWEST ALL THE WAY TO THE NEW JEREY SHORELINE. IT
APPEARS THAT RHODE ISLAND WILL BE IMPACTED BY HEAVY RAINFALL THROUGH 9 PWITH AS MUCH AS ANOTHER INCH OF RAIN POSSIBLE.
 
RAINFALL THUS FAR HAS AVERAGED 1.5 TO 2 INCHES STATEWIDE WITH RIVERS
AND SMALL STREAMS ALREADY RUNNING CLOSE TO BANKFULL.  THE ADDITIONAL
INCH OF RAIN WILL MOST CERTAINLY CAUSE SOME STREAMS TO OVERFLOW THEIR
BANKS TONIGHT.
 
A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWA^Y.  NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
