THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAS VEGAS HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  345 PM PDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS......
 
IN SOUTH NEVADA
 
   ...SOUTHERN CLARK COUNTY (INCLUDING SEARCHLIGHT AND CAL-NEV-ARI)
 
AT 145 PM PDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
THUNDERSTORM WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN 7 MILES SOUTHWEST OF SEARCHLIGHT.
AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES INDICATED OVER ONE INCH OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN
THE LAST 30 MINUTES WITH RADAR INDICATED ISOLATED AMOUNTS IN EXCESS
OF TWO INCHES. FLASH FLOODING OF AREA WASHES IS LIKELY OCCURING
INCLUDING THE PIUTE WASH WHICH FLOWS INTO CAL-NEV-ARI.
 
ANOTHER STRONG THUNDERSTORM WAS DEVELOPING TWO MILES EAST OF SEARCHLIGHT
WITH LITTLE MOVEMENT. THIS STORM IS ALSO CAPABLE OF PRODUCING FLASH
FLOODING OF AREA WASHES. RESIDENTS AND TRAVELLERS BETWEEN SEARCHLIGHT
AND CAL-NEV-ARI SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR RISING WATER AS FLASH
FLOODING OF THE NORMALLY DRY WASHES IS LIKELY OCCURING OR WILL OCCUR
SOON.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
