THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  430 PM EDT
FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY
 
   ...UNION COUNTY
 
TWO TO THREE INCHES OF RAIN IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THIS
MORNING ACROSS PORTIONS OF UNION COUNTY HAVE CAUSED MANY
SMALL RIVERS AND STREAMS TO RISE TO BANKFULL. THE CRANFORD
RIVER IN THE TOWN OF WINFIELD HAS ROSE OUT OF ITS BANKS AND
THE RIVER GAGE IN SPRINGFIELD ON THE RAHWAY RIVER HAS RISEN
ABOVE ITS 5.5 FOOT FLOOD STAGE.
 
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATES A BATCH OF
MODERATE RAIN CONTINUES OVER THE WARNING AREA. THE COUNTY
COULD RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL INCH OF RAIN DURING THE NEXT
SEVERAL HOURS WHICH COULD CAUSE ADDITIONAL STREAMS TO FLOOD.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
