THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOBILE HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1030 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN SOUTHWEST ALABAMA
 
   ...MOBILE COUNTY
 
AT 425 PM NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING TO MOVE NORTH ACROSS THE MOBILE AREA. SINCE 115
PM...OVER ONE AND A HALF INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER EASTERN MOBILE
COUNTY. THIS SAME AREA HAS RECEIVED AT LEAST 8 INCHES OF RAIN DURING THE
PAST 48 HOURS.
 
THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE SPREADING NORTHWARD
OVER MOBILE COUNTY THROUGH AT LEAST 7 PM THIS EVENING AND WILL PRODUCE
LOCALLY HIGH RAINFALL RATES. CURRENT GUIDANCE INDICATES THAT AN INCH OF
RAIN IN ONE HOUR WILL CAUSE RAPID RUNOFF OF WATER TO OCCUR WHICH WILL
INUNDATE LOW LYING AREAS AND CAUSE FLOODING OF ROADWAYS. THIS WILL
CREATE A HAZARD DURING THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE HOME.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
