000 TTAA00 KMLB 122019 RRA TORMLB FLC009-FLZ501-122050- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MELBOURNE FL 420 PM EDT THU JUN 12 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MELBOURNE FL HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 450 PM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA ...NORTHERN BREVARD COUNTY AT 418 PM WEATHER RADAR INDICATED A POSSIBLE TORNADO 2 MILES EAST OF MIMS OVER THE INDIAN RIVER. SEVERAL PREVIOUS REPORTS WERE RECEIVED OF WATERSPOUTS OVER THE INDIAN RIVER NEAR TITUSVILLE AND THE NASA CAUSEWAY. THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE MOVING EAST NEAR 20 MPH. THE TORNADO IS EXPECTED TO MOVE EAST SOUTHEAST NEAR 15 MPH AND WILL AFFECT AREAS IN AND NEAR THE KENNEDY SPACE CENTER AND PLAYALINDA BEACH. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...ABANDON CARS AND MOBILE HOMES FOR A REINFORCED BUILDING OR GET INTO A DITCH OR CULVERT. THE SAFEST PLACE IS AN INTERIOR ROOM SUCH AS A CLOSET ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF A STRONG BUILDING. AVOID WINDOWS.
