THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  930 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN EAST CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA
 
   ...SOUTHERN DUPLIN COUNTY
 
AT 720 AM DUPLIN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT REPORTED FLASH FLOODING WAS
CONTINUING ALONG ROUTE 50 IN SOUTH CENTRAL DUPLIN COUNTY BETWEEN
KENANSVILLE AND CHINQUAPIN. ALTHOUGH HEAVY RAINFALL HAD MOVED OUT
OF THE COUNTY...FLOODING WAS STILL SUBSTANTIAL IN THE STOCKTON HEAD
ROAD AND THE HALLTON ROAD AREAS WHERE 1 TO 3 FEET OF WATER REMAINED.
 
HIGHWAY 50 MAY NEED TO BE CLOSED IN THESE AREAS AS REPORTS WERE
BEING RECEIVED OF THE ROAD WASHING OUT. PERSONS ALONG HIGHWAY 50
SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM FLOODED AREAS AND AVOID DRIVING IF POSSIBLE
AS A CARS WERE REPORTED STRANDED IN HIGH WATERS.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
