000 TTAA00 KLCH 050903 RRA SVRLCH LAC011-019-023-115-051000- BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAKE CHARLES LA 301 AM CST SAT APR 5 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAKE CHARLES HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 400 AM CST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA ...BEAUREGARD PARISH...CALCASIEU PARISH...CAMERON PARISH ...VERNON PARISH AND ADJACENT COASTAL WATERS AT 300 AM CST...NEXRAD DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CROSSING THE SABINE RIVER. THE LINE WAS MOVING EAST AT 30 MPH. THE PRIMARY THREAT FROM THESE STORMS IS WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. A TORNADO WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR THE WARNED AREA. REMEMBER SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY DO PRODUCE TORNADOES WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE WARNING. REMAIN CALM BUT BE ALERT TO RAPIDLY CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS.
