THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HASTINGS NE  HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  800 AM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS
 
   ...NORTHERN JEWELL COUNTY
 
AT 300 AM...A JEWELL COUNTY DEPUTY REPORTED SIFNIFICANT WATER FLOWING
OVER THE ROADWAY TO THE NORTH OF ESBON NEAR WHITE ROCK CREEK. THE WATER
HAD WASHED TREES ONTO THE ROADWAY. ALSO...WATER WAS REPORTED TO BE
RUSHING OVER HIGHWAY 28 IN SEVERAL PLACES TO THE NORTH OF BURR OAK.
 
AS MUCH AS 4 TO 5 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN A LOCALIZED AREA OF
NORTHWEST JEWELL COUNTY...AND WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATES
THAT THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BUILT BACK INTO THE AREA WITH ADDITIONAL
AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES POSSIBLE THROUGH 430 AM.
 
PEOPLE SHOULD NOT TRAVEL ON ROADS IN AND AROUND WHITE ROCK CREEK
THIS MORNING. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. DO NOT CROSS ROADS
WITH WATER FLOWING OVER THEM AS THE CURRENT MAY EASILY SWEEP YOU AND
YOUR VECHICLE AWAY.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLASH FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS
BEEN REPORTED.  RESIDENTS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS. STAY
TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR FURTHER STATEMENTS ON THIS FLOODING
SITUATION.
