THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BROWNSVILLE HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  630 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN SOUTH TEXAS
 
   ...CAMERON COUNTY...WILLACY COUNTY
 
...A FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR CAMERON AND WILLACY COUNTIES
THROUGH 630 PM TONIGHT...
 
AT 1230 PM...BROWNSVILLE RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN PRODUCING SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER EASTERN CAMERON...WILLACY AND KENEDY COUNTIES.
IN ADDITION...RADAR INDICATED ADDITIONAL STRONG SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE MEXICAN COASTLINE.  THESE STORMS WERE ALL MOVING
NORTH AT 10 TO 15 MPH AND WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE TORRENTIAL RAINS
OVER THE WARNED COUNTIES.
 
RAINFALL RATES ASSOCIATED WITH THESE STORMS RANGE FROM 1/2 TO 1 INCHES
PER HOUR. CURRENTLY...BROWNSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND OFF-DUTY NWS
EMPLOYEES REPORT THAT TRAFFIC ON BOCA CHICA BLVD HAS BEEN REDUCED TO THE
CENTERMOST LANE AND THAT THE 100 TO 300 BLOCK OF NORTH IOWA STREET HAS
BEEN FLOODED.  IN ADDITION...THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTS THAT SEVERAL
RESACAS ARE FILLED AND COULD GO OUT OF THEIR BANKS LATER THIS AFTERNOON.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.
