THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  330 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
 
   ...HARTFORD COUNTY
   ...TOLLAND COUNTY
 
AT 1145...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THAT SLOW
MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WERE AFFECTING MUCH OF HARTFORD COUNTY. THE
HEAVIEST RAINFALL...OF 2 TO 3 INCHES AN HOUR...WAS OVER MANCHESTER AND
VERNON.  HEAVY RAINFALL WAS ALSO BEGINNING TO SPREAD INTO WESTERN
TOLLAND COUNTY.
 
TORRENTIAL RAINFALL HAS ALREADY PRODUCED WIDESPREAD STREET AND URBAN
FLOODING.  WITH ADDITIONAL RAINFALL OF 1 TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE DURING THE
NEXT FEW HOURS...SOME BROOKS AND SMALL STREAMS WILL FLOOD RAPIDLY OUT OF
THEIR BANKS.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
