THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AMARILLO HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING  EFFECTIVE UNTIL  830 PM CDT
FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN THE TEXAS PANHANDLE
 
   ...LIPSCOMB COUNTY
 
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR WAS ESTIMATING THAT OVER 3.5
INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN THE BOOKER AREA. NUMEROUS HEAVY RAIN
PRODUCING THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE MOVING SLOWLY EAST OVER THE COUNTY
THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING BRINGING EVEN MORE HEAVY RAINFALL TO THE
AREA. THE LIBSCOMB COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE HAS REPORTED THAT TEXAS STATE
HIGHWAY 23 HAS BEEN CLOSED DUE TO 12 INCHES OF WATER OVER THE ROADWAY.
 
THOSE WITH INTERESTS ALONG WOLF CREEK WILL WANT TO BE AWARE OF RAPID
RISES THROUGH LATE THIS EVENING.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY
OR PAST POLICE BARRICADES. IF YOUR VEHICLE STALLS IN THE WATER...
ABANDON IT IMMEDIATELY AND SEEK HIGHER GROUND.  RAPIDLY RISING
WATER CAN ENGULF A VEHICLE AND ITS OCCUPANTS AND SWEEP THEM AWAY.
MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN VEHICLES.
