000 TTAA00 KABQ 062258 FFWABQ NMC027-070200- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ALBUQUERQUE NM 500 PM MDT WED AUG 6 1997 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBUQUERQUE HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING UNTIL 6 PM MDT AND FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 800 PM MDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN CENTRAL NEW MEXICO ...LINCOLN COUNTY AT 445 PM DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM ABOUT 15 MILES SOUTHEAST OF CORONA SOUTH OF STATE ROAD 247 OR ABOUT 20 MILES NORTHEAST OF JICARILLA. THE STORM WAS MOVING VERY SLOWLY SOUTHEAST AND THE CIRCLE F RANCH IS IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM. RAINFALL IN EXCESS OF TWO INCHES IN THE LAST HOUR HAS BEEN ESTIMATED BY RADAR WITH THE STORM. ARROYOS ALONG THE EAST SLOPES AND MANY MILES DISTANT EAST OF THE STORM WILL LIKELY EXPERIENCE RAPID RISES OF WATER LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THROUGH THE EVENING. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING...PEOPLE SHOULD MOVE INSIDE A STRONG BUILDING. DO NOT STAND BY WINDOWS. DON'T USE TELEPHONES OR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES UNLESS IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL THE STORM HAS PASSED. MOTORISTS SHOULD NOT DRIVE INTO LOW WATER CROSSINGS.
