932 PM CDT MON JUN 17 1996

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SHREVEPORT HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1230 AM CDT
FOR THE FOLLOWING AREA...

IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA

   ...SOUTHERN MCCURTAIN COUNTY

AT 930 PM CDT...DOPPLER RADAR ESTIMATED THAT NEARLY THREE AND ONE-HALF
INCHES OF RAIN HAD FALLEN ACROSS SOUTHERN MCCURTAIN COUNTY IN THE LAST
THREE HOURS. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP AND MOVE
INTO SOUTHWEST MCCURTAIN COUNTY DURING THE NEXT TWO HOURS. ANY ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL WILL LIKELY CAUSE STREAMS TO QUICKLY OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS AND
CAUSE FLOODING OF LOW LYING AREAS ESPECIALLY EAST OF HIGHWAY 3 AND SOUTH
OF HIGHWAY 70 WHERE EARLIER RAINFALL WAS THE HEAVIEST.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...MOVE QUICKLY TO HIGHER GROUND.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED
IMMEDIATELY.
