000 TTAA00 KSGF 060158 TORSGF MOC091-203-060230- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPRINGFIELD MO 757 PM CST TUE MAR 5 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 830 PM CST FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI ...HOWELL COUNTY...SHANNON COUNTY AT 755 PM...RADAR INDICATED A STORM DEVELOPING WITH A POSSIBLE TORNADO APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES NORTHWEST OF WEST PLAINS. MOVEMENT WAS NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH. THE STORM WAS PART OF AN AREA OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THAT EXTENDED OVER THE SOUTHERN HALF OF HOWELL COUNTY. THESE THUNDERSTORMS HAVE A HISTORY OF PRODUCING HAIL OF UP TO GOLF BALL SIZE. THE THUNDERSTORM WITH THE POSSIBLE TORNADO WILL APPROACH THE WILLOW SPRINGS AND MOUNTAIN VIEW BETWEEN 815 AND 820 PM AND INTO THE BIRCH TREE AREA OF SHANNON COUNTY AROUND 830 PM. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IS A BASEMENT. GET UNDER A WORKBENCH OR PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE.
