NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHILADELPHIA/MOUNT HOLLY NJ
340 AM EST SAT NOV 9 1996

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY NJ HAS ISSUED A FLOOD
WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 900 AM EST FOR THE EAST BRANCH OF THE
BRANDYWINE CREEK IN CHESTER COUNTY.

MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING ALONG PARTS OF THE EAST BRANCH OF THE
BRANDWINE CREEK.  AT 330 AM...THE GAGE AT DOWNINGTOWN HAD A READING
OF 7.3 FEET.  THE FLOOD STAGE AT THAT LOCATION IS 7.0 FEET.

RUNOFF FROM FRIDAY/S HEAVY RAIN SHOULD CONTINUE TO CAUSE THE EAST
BRANCH OF THE BRANDYWINE CREEK TO RISE SLOWLY DURING THE NEXT COUPLE
OF HOURS...WITH ONLY MINOR FLOODING ANTICIPATED.  THE CREEK IS
EXPECTED TO CREST AT DOWNINGTOWN AT A LEVEL BETWEEN 7.5 AND 8.0
FEET...THEN IT SHOULD RETURN TO ITS BANKS BY MID-MORNING.
