000 TTAA00 KPIT 152223 FFWPIT OHC031-067-157-PAC121-160015- BULLETIN - EBS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PITTSBURGH PA 618 PM EDT THU AUG 15 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 815 PM EDT FOR THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS... IN EAST CENTRAL OHIO ...COSHOCTON COUNTY...HARRISON COUNTY...TUSCARAWAS COUNTY IN NORTHWEST PENNSYLVANIA ...VENANGO COUNTY AT 615 PM WEATHER RADAR SHOWED NUMEROUS AREAS ACROSS THESE COUNTIES HAVE GOTTEN OVER 2 INCHES OF RAIN SINCE LATE AFTERNOON...WITH THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUING TO CAUSE TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS OVER SOME OF THESE AREAS. THE WORST HIT AREAS IN OHIO WERE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL COSHOCTON COUNTY...CENTRAL TUSCARAWAS COUNTY...AND NORTHERN AND CENTRAL HARRISON COUNTY. THE NORTHERN PART OF VENANGO COUNTY HAS GOTTEN THE MOST RAIN AS OF 615 PM...BUT THE SOUTHERN PART WILL BE GETTING HARD HIT ALSO. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROAD. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
