000 TTAA00 KSTL 262357 FFWSTL ILC163-270300- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ST LOUIS MO 657 PM CDT MON AUG 26 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1000 PM CDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS ...WESTERN ST. CLAIR COUNTY AT 650 PM CDT A THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED 5 MILES WEST OF BELLEVILLE IN WESTERN ST. CLAIR COUNTY. THIS STORM ORIGINATED NEAR CENTREVILLE ABOUT 6 PM. RADAR PRECIPITATION ESTIMATES INDICATE THAT 3.00 TO 3.50 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN ALONG OR NEAR HIGHWAY 163 JUST SOUTH OF CENTREVILLE BETWEEN 545 AND 645 PM. THIS STORM WILL CONTINUE MOVING VERY SLOWLY SOUTHEAST AT 5 MPH. AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 3 INCHES OF RAINFALL COULD OCCUR WITH THIS STORM. THIS STORM WILL PASS NEAR MILLSTADT BETWEEN NOW AND 8 PM THIS EVENING. LOW AREAS AND SECONDARY ROADS WILL BE MOST VULNERABLE TO BRIEF FLOODING AS THE WATER BEGINS TO RUNOFF. IF YOU LIVE NEAR A SMALL STREAM OR OTHER LOW LYING FLOOD- PRONE AREA...BE PREPARED TO MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND QUICKLY. YOUR LIFE MAY DEPEND ON IT. PEDIGO
