000 TTAA00 KNEW 150055 TORNEW LAC103-150130- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED TORNADO WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW ORLEANS LA 756 PM CDT SUN APR 14 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW ORLEANS HAS ISSUED A TORNADO WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 830 PM CDT FOR RESIDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA ...WESTERN ST. TAMMANY PARISH AT 753 PM CDT...DOPPLER RADAR IN SLIDELL INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM POSSIBLY CONTAINING A TORNADO MOVING TOWARDS GOODBEE AND MADISONVILLE FROM THE BEDICO AREA. THESE STORMS HAVE PRODUCED GOLFBALL SIZED HAIL IN THE PONCHATOULA AREA AROUND 730 PM. RADAR STRONGLY INDICATED THAT A TORNADO MAY VERY WELL BE OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM. THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS STORM. TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY. GOODBEE...COVINGTON AND RESIDENTS ALONG HIGHWAY 1077 BETWEEN GOODBEE AND MADISONVILLE ARE IN THE PATH OF THIS STORM. IF YOU ARE IN THE PATH OF A TORNADO...THE SAFEST PLACE IS A BASEMENT. GE T UNDER A WORKBENCH OR PIECE OF STURDY FURNITURE.
