THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN EUREKA CA HAS ISSUED A SMALL RIVER
AND STREAM FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL MIDNIGHT PST FOR PEOPLE IN
THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...

IN NORTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA

  ...WEST CENTRAL HUMBOLDT COUNTY
     INCLUDING ARCATA

MANY SMALL STREAMS AND RIVERS IN THE COASTAL LOWLANDS NEAR HUMBOLDT
BAY HAVE RISEN OUT OF THEIR BANKS...INCLUDING JACOBY CREEK. 
ACCORDING TO HUMBOLDT COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT...ABOUT 6 INCHES OF
WATER COVER PORTIONS OF OLD ARCATA ROAD NEAR BAYSIDE IN THE VICINITY
OF JACOBY CREEK...MAKING THE ROAD IMPASSABLE.  FRESHWATER CREEK IS
ALSO RISING QUICKLY AND COULD CAUSE SOME LOCAL FLOODING. 

THE PRECIPITATION WILL REMAIN SHOWERY THROUGH THE EVENING WITH
ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS REMAINING LESS THAN ONE QUARTER OF AN
INCH.  A HIGH TIDE OF 4.6 FEET JUST AFTER 6 PM MAY MAKE SLOW DRAINAGE
OF THESE RIVERS AND STREAMS INTO HUMBOLDT BAY THIS EVENING.  

MOTORISTS SHOULD BE CAUTIOUS IF YOU PLAN TO TRAVEL IN THIS AREA. 
REMEMBER...DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE ACROSS WATER COVERED ROADS S\INCE
IT MAY BE HIDING A WASHOUT.
