000 TTAA00 KBUF 192250 COR FFWBUF NYC055-069-073-117-200400- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY 652 PM EDT SAT OCT 19 1996 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO NY HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING FOR URBAN AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS UNTIL 1200 AM EDT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION... IN WESTERN NEW YORK... ...MONROE COUNTY...ONTARIO COUNTY...ORLEANS COUNTY AND...WAYNE COUNTY... RAINFALL AMOUNTS BETWEEN 2 AND 2.5 INCHES HAVE OCCURRED OVER MUCH OF THE AREA SINCE FRIDAY EVENING. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED A LARGE AREA OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN CONTINUING ACROSS THE LOWER GENESEE RIVER VALLEY AND MUCH OF THE WESTERN FINGER REGION. STEADY RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE...HEAVY AT TIMES...INTO EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF ONE-HALF TO ONE INCH ARE POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT. SMALL STREAMS WERE REPORTED NEAR BANKFUL OVER MUCH OF THE WARNING AREA. IN ADDITION...REPORTS OF URBAN STREET FLOODING AND BASEMENT FLOODING HAVE BEEN RECEIVED. PEOPLE SHOULD BE ALERT FOR RISING WATER AND TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.
