THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BUFFALO NY HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 815 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...

IN WEST NEW YORK

   ...NORTHERN ERIE COUNTY
 
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A PERSISTENT
BAND OF RAIN EXTENDING FROM EASTERN LAKE ERIE NORTHEAST ACROSS
GRAND ISLAND AND NORTHERN ERIE COUNTY TO NEAR MEDINA IN ORLEANS
COUNTY. HEAVY TO MODERATE RAIN WITH RUMBLES OF THUNDER ARE EMBEDDED
IN THIS PARTICULAR BAND OF RAIN...WITH DOPPLER RAINFALL ESTIMATES
OF NEARLY AN INCH OF RAIN IN AN HOURS TIME.

THE RAIN IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF AND SHIFT OUT OF NORTHERN ERIE
COUNTY THIS MORNING AS WINDS SHIFT MORE TO THE SOUTHWEST.

THE OFF DUTY STATION HYDROLOGIST REPORTS 1.50 INCHES OF RAIN IN
TONAWANDA DURING THE PAST HOUR AND A HALF WITH LOCALIZED STREET
AND BACKYARD FLOODING. SHERIDAN DRIVE IS UNDERWATER IN TONAWANDA
AND HAS BEEN CLOSED.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING$ WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED
QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

THE HEAVY RAINFALL AND SLOW MOVEMENT OF THESE STORMS MAY RESULT
IN FLOODING OF ROAD INTERSECTIONS AND LOW-LYING AREAS.
