THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 100 PM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
 
   ...HARTFORD COUNTY
 
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS EXTENDED THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR
SMALL STREAMS AND RIVERS IN HARTFORD COUNTY.  THIS INCLUDES THE NORTH
BRANCH OF THE PARK RIVER.
 
AT 930 AM THE NORTH BRANCH OF THE PARK RIVER HAD RISEN TO 9.27 FEET AND
WAS NEARING CREST.  NOW THAT THE RAIN HAS ENDED...THE RIVER SHOULD BEGIN
TO SUBSIDE AND FALL BELOW ITS FLOOD STAGE OF 8 FEET BY EARLY AFTERNOON.
 
A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS
IMMINENT.  MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES.  DO NOT
ATTEMPT TO CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS
THE ROADWAY.  NEVER TRY TO CROShS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL
ONE...ON FOOT.  TO ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
