THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1100 PM EST
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...

IN NORTH CENTRAL CONNECTICUT

   ...HARTFORD COUNTY

AT 5 PM...HEAVY RAINFALL AND RAPID SNOWMELT WAS CONTINUING TO PRODUCE
RAPID RUNOFF INTO AREA STREAMS. THE SOUTH BRANCH OF THE PARK RIVER WAS
AT 9 FEET AND RISING RAPIDLY. ONCE THIS LOCATION REACHES 10 FEET...WHICH
SHOULD OCCUR BY 7 PM...MANY OTHER AREA SMALL TRIBUTARIES
USUALLY BEGIN TO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS.

HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE THROUGH 7 PM.  COLDER AIR SHOULD MOVE IN
LATER TONIGHT ALLOWING RUNOFF TO DIMINISH.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS.  IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.
MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO
FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
