THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TOPEKA HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING  EFFECTIVE UNTIL  515 PM CDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS
 
   ...NORTHERN CLOUD COUNTY...REPUBLIC COUNTY...WASHINGTON COUNTY
 
VERY HEAVY RAIN HAS FALLEN ACROSS THE AREA DURING THE PAST TWO HOURS
FROM SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS FROM THE CLYDE AND
HANOVER AREAS HAS TOTALLED BETWEEN 3 TO 3.5 INCHES SINCE NOON. DOPPLER
RADAR ESTIMATES OVER THIS SAME AREA ALSO SHOW UP TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN IN
THE PAST THREE HOURS.
 
THE CLOUD COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS THAT MANY OF THE ROADS IN THE NORTHEAST
PORTION OF THE COUNTY ARE UNDER WATER.  THE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY
CONTINUE UNTIL AT LEAST 3 PM...CAUSING ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE ACROSS WATER-COVERED ROADWAYS. THE
WATER DEPTH AND CURRENT MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.
