THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHILADELPHIA/MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1045 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION...
 
IN  DELAWARE
 
   ...NEW CASTLE COUNTY
 
AT 4AM THE STAGE OF THE CHRISTINA RIVER AT COOCHS BRIDGE WAS 8.9 FEET
AND RISING. FLOOD STAGE AT COOCHS BRIDGE IS 9 FT. A CREST OF BETWEEN
10 AND 11 FEET IS EXPECTED AT COOCHS BRIDGE LATER THIS MORNING.
 
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH A COLD FRONT MOVING EAST
ACROSS THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION HAVE PRODUCED BETWEEN 2 AND 3 INCHES
OF RAIN IN NEW CASTLE COUNTY SINCE 7PM FRIDAY.  THIS RAIN IS CAUSING
RAPID RISES ON STREAMS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY.  ALTHOUGH THE
RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH THE MORNING...THE HEAVIEST
PRECIPITATION HAS MOVED EAST INTO SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY.
 
AVOID AREAS WHICH ARE ALREADY FLOODED.  IF YOU COME ACROSS A
FLOODED STREAM...WHERE THE WATER IS ABOVE YOUR ANKLES...STOP.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS THE STREAM BECAUSE ITS FLOW MAY BE
STRONGER THAN YOU THINK.  YOU COULD BE WASHED AWAY.
