THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MIAMI HAS ISSUED A
FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL 1230 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATION......
 
IN SOUTH FLORIDA
 
   ...NORTHEASTERN HENDRY COUNTY
 
THE HENDRY COUNTY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS OFFICE REPORTED THAT LAST
NIGHTS RAIN HAS FLOODED THE HARLEM GARDENS AREA IN CLEWISTON.  THE RAIN
THAT HAS BEEN OCCURRING IN CLEWISTON SINCE 4 AM HAS BEGUN TO TAPER OFF
SOME.  THE MIAMI RADAR INDICATED ESTIMATES OF FROM 3 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN
HAS FALLEN FROM THIS STORM.  THE FRONT THAT HAS PRODUCED THIS RAIN IS
ABOUT STATIONARY.  ALTHOUGH THE RAIN HAS DECREASED HEAVY RAINS WILL BE
LIKELY AGAIN LATER THIS MORNING.  AN ADDITIONAL 3 TO 5 INCHES WILL BE
POSSIBLE.  THEREFORE THE FLOODING IN CLEWISTON WILL LIKELY BECOME WORST.
 
RESIDENTS IN CLEWISTON SHOULD LISTEN TO THE LOCAL EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
OFFICIALS FOR ADVICE ON AREAS THAT MAY NEED TO BE EVACUATED.
 
STREET FLOODING WILL BE A PROBLEM IN THOSE AREAS THAT RECEIVE HEAVY
RAINS.  IF YOU ARE DRIVING...REDUCE YOUR SPEED IN AREAS OF RESTRICTED
VISIBILITIES AND AVOID POtNDING WATER IN STREETS...UNDERPASSES AND OTH
LOW LYING AREAS WHERE DRAINAGE IS POOR. DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO PLAY
IN FLOOD WATERS...THEY MAY BE CONTAMINATED.
