THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A
FLASH FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE UNTIL  330 PM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN WEST MASSACHUSETTS
 
   ...FRANKLIN COUNTY...WESTERN HAMPDEN COUNTY
   ...WESTERN HAMPSHIRE COUNTY
 
HEAVY RAINFALL THIS MORNING OF 3 OR MORE INCHES ACROSS THE WARNING AREA
SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO CAUSE A FEW SMALL STREAMS TO OVERFLOW THEIR BANKS.
ALREADY...AS OF 1120 AM THE WEST BRANCH OF THE WESTFIELD RIVER HAD RISEN
PAST FLOOD STAGE BY A COUPLE OF FEET IN HUNTINGTON. SOME SMALL STREAMS
IN FRANKLIN COUNTY AND ALONG THE BERKSHIRES IN WESTERN HAMPSHIRE AND
WESTERN HAMPDEN COUNTIES WILL CONTINUE TO RISE THROUGH AT LEAST EARLY
AFTERNOON AS RUNOFF CONTINUES.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTFH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
