FLOOD WARNING  EFFECTIVE UNTIL  215 AM EDT
FOR PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS...
 
IN WEST MASSACHUSETTS
 
   ...WESTERN FRANKLIN COUNTY...WESTERN HAMPDEN COUNTY
   ...WESTERN HAMPSHIRE COUNTY
 
RAINFALL OF 3 TO 5 INCHES HAS OCCURRED DURING THE DAY ACROSS THE WESTERN
HALF OF FRANKLIN...HAMPSHIRE AND HAMPDEN COUNTIES.  RUNOFF FROM THE HEAVRAIN WAS CAUSING SIGNIFICANT RISES ON SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS IN THESE
LOCATIONS AND SOME FLOODING IS EXPECTED OVERNIGHT AS THE RUNOFF
CONTINUES.  SIGNIFICANT RISES WERE OCCURRING ON THE NORTH RIVER IN
HEATH...AND THE WEST BRANCH OF THE WESTFIELD RIVER IN HUNTINGTON.
 
THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE SMALL STREAM FLOODING ARE THOSE
AREAS IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS.
 
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE
THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS.  IF FLOODING IS
OBSERVED...ACT QUICKLY.  MOVE UP TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.  DO
NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
 
DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AR6EAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY.  THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO
CROSS SAFELY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE
ABANDONED QUICKLY.  MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.
